From 2019 to 2026, I made art directed and designed interactive digital stories on various desks at The New York Times, including Styles, Opinion, Politics, Food, Travel, Culture and more. I worked with editors, photo editors and writers to rethink traditional online storytelling, and had the opportunity to play with many different formats.

Williamsburg. What happened? ↗
A thirty year look at the recent history and development of Williamsburg, NYC. This piece came together very naturally, with an abundance of photo research by Christy Harmon. With a few of the old photographs, we also had Tony Cenicola go out to the exact same locations to photograph how the neighborhood has changed—which we were able to create a “before and after” interaction with, serving as natural chapter breaks. My personal favorite piece I’ve ever done for the Times. At a legacy media corporation, my MO has always been to see how far I can push a visual and interaction idea. These days, with the company becoming bigger, and digital becoming the main part of the paper, it has become a lot harder to pitch ideas like this. So I’m glad I got away with it. A true digital fashion zine. It was meant to be a column, but I left the desk shortly after, and no other issues came out. So it is one of one. Collaborators: Gabriel Gianordoli

2023 - For Max Read’s lighthearted deep dive into the world of 2023 A.I. memes, we create a scientific visual motif to map the memes on. This chart morphs from one axis to two, with the axes representing machine stupidity and intelligence, and human stupidity and intelligence. At the pace of A.I.’s advancement, the memes already feel dated, but the story nevertheless represents a snarky and cynical look at A.I. that doesn’t get old. More memes for the fun zone! 2019 A cover page for a package of stories from The New York Times Styles desk about the modern workplace. The little bits of office gossip require work to be revealed—your boss won’t be able to side-eye you for doing this at the office. Illustrated, designed and coded custom analog button interactions! As well as other scroll-responsive knick-knacks, such as dials, AM/FM bars, LED lights. Responses are user-generated, through a survey published in 2019 by the Styles desk.
